The list of supplements marketed as “test boosters”, i.e. with the power of stimulating this hormone, is extremely impressive and it is actually a “critical” factor for companies producing supplements as the financial stakes are very high. Testo-boosters are continuously being unveiled, described as “aggressive” and “fascinating”, terms that serve to remind us of well-known doping drugs, with “catchy” claims, formulas with root extract mixtures sometimes well-known (more often less..) and all accompanied by amazing reviews. These are often mere smoke screens for athletes, victims of false misleading marketing and with many companies providing scarce real information.
The market for these products and its turnover is clear, they are always in vogue. But do they really work? Do they all work? Are we sure about what we are buying? Are they really backed up by science? My long experience in the field tells me, however, that sooner or later science appears on the scene with its answers and tests in the field, taking for example the “illusory” theories of many of these products, which have often been in the eye of the storm of the law, due to their suspicious and / or illicit “contaminating elements”. A striking example is the issue of Tribulus Terrestris, which, for years, has been included in all these types of supplements as the most effective testosterone supplement ever with guaranteed and amazing effects. Everyone was fascinated by this herb with potentially stimulating qualities and, up to a certain point, the scientific confusion left room for a certain amount of doubt and… mysticism, thus providing a curious alternative to all males eager to be become an ever greater alpha male both inside and outside the gym…But what is the real story? Given that we are dealing with a very sensitive field, where there are many economic interests in play, it is good to be clear and the only way to understand the reality is to rely on science, which for years now has been studying the effects of a large number of natural substances that may have implications for testosterone stimulation. We are very often dealing with blends of “exotic” herbs, presumed to have “strongly” stimulating properties but which have very little or no effect on those who take them, or whose claims are revealed to be invalid by careful scientific studies.
Some substances have a real positive influence (according to studies and analysis), others are of little significance for body builders, for example, and with others… many others you are simply “throwing your money away”. This is exactly what happened with Tribulus Terrestris, the phytoextract that has been used for centuries in India to increase male and female fertility, to such as extent that it immediately attracted the attention of Western science.
Some studies have found that the main active ingredient of Tribulus, protodioscina (a steroidal saponina), has an effect on androgen levels , making it of interest to many companies. In fact, this led to the launch of many Tribulus Terrestris supplements. However, research has gone ahead and the first studies on human beings have begun to come out, including specific studies on men in training, or on athletes who practice sports such as rugby, and at the end of these studies it was not possible to notice any difference in testosterone or physical strength between those who took Tribulus and those who did not. After a series of in-depth studies relating to effective, noticeable and actual stimulation (and not minimal or temporary, far from the misleading claims often used), the scientific community has confirmed that Tribulus Terrestris has no effect in humans on lutein ( LH) or on the production of Testosterone or any other androgenic hormones, in such a way as to have the “promised” results, i.e. noticeable effects on physical strength and fat percentage. As always, the research and development department of Yamamoto Nutrition is always at the forefront and attentive to the world of research, thus, taking note of every update, we work to produce the best products, with raw materials of absolute certified quality, as is the case for AnabolicBOOST, structured with elements proven by science to support a real beneficial influence on the maintenance of physiological testosterone and support endocrine health in cases of intense training. No “miraculous herb”, no element of “dubious” provenance or the result of witchcraft has been added; only elements that really support the physiological hormonal activity.
