Yamamoto® Research Bergamotto – Coenzyme Q10 and Bergamot extract food supplement

Bergamot, whose scientific name is Citrus bergamia L., is a cultivated perennial plant of the Rutaceae family, very similar to the orange but with a non-edible fruit. The essential oil of the same name is widely used in the perfume industry. In addition to its use in perfumery, however, bergamot essential oil is attributed anti-inflammatory, disinfectant and healing properties.

This citrus fruit is cultivated mainly in Calabria, which is also known as ‘green gold’ for its qualities. The most interesting feature of this plant, however, concerns the use of its extracts to reduce cholesterol levels when they are too high. In particular, its effects seem to be related to lowering the levels of triglycerides and LDL-only cholesterol, i.e. what is commonly regarded as ‘bad cholesterol’, thus also reducing the risk of dangerous cardiovascular events.

These more than positive effects on health are attributable to the high amounts of flavonoids and antioxidants contained in bergamot juice and extract, which have a protective effect on our cells, counteracting the formation of free radicals.

What is Bergamotto?

Yamamoto® Research Bergamotto is a dietary supplement containing Coenzyme Q10 and Bergamot extract. This product clearly represents the philosophy behind Yamamoto® Research: science meets nature and allies with it to ensure the well-being of each individual.
Bergamotto, as specified above, consists of bergamot extract (Citrus bergamia) and CoenzymeQ10.

Bergamot essence contains a high number of antioxidants, and following a recent study published in the International Journal of Cardiology of the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro, involving 237 patients, it has been shown to be able to lower levels of ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol, while increasing those of ‘good’ HDL cholesterol. Because of this ability, bergamot extract is suitable for reducing cholesterol and triglyceride levels and providing additional protection for the cardiovascular system.

CoenzymeQ10, also called Ubiquinone, is an antioxidant molecule naturally produced by our body, present in the mitochondrion for its proper functioning and with a very important role in slow-aging. In fact, its quantities tend to decrease with age or in the presence of particular chronic diseases. As a strongly antioxidant substance, it protects against oxidative damage and the action of free radicals, while also having an effective action in controlling membrane lipid peroxidation.
The synergistic action of these two compounds allows Bergamotto to act comprehensively and extremely efficiently as an antioxidant and in reducing cholesterol levels.
