Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for normal skin function and acts as an important contrast against oxidative stress. The presence of bioflavonoids, which are a complex of plant pigments with a particular beneficial action (see Esperidin), are found in close synergistic combination with vitamin C and further promote absorption, providing important protection against the damage caused by free radicals. Another essential function of bioflavonoids is to strengthen the capillary walls whose main task is to allow an exchange of vital substances (oxygen and nutrition) between the blood and the surrounding tissues.
